Recognitions

Recognition of Academic Credit from Abroad

Starting in the summer semester of 2023, the following policy applies:

Academic credit earned abroad may, upon request, be applied toward the modules offered by the department and may thus substitute for individual courses within the modules or for an entire module. Recognition as a special lecture worth 3.5 ECTS credits is possible.

A prerequisite for the recognition and credit transfer of such coursework is that the recognition was coordinated with the chair before the study abroad period and that prior written approval has been granted.

Procedure for prior approval: To do this, the student must complete the faculty’s official form, “Recognition Agreement for Academic Achievements Abroad”, and email it along with the course descriptions to info∂iip.kit.edu. If the chair agrees with the course selection, you will receive a scanned copy of the signed form.

Procedure for final recognition: After your stay abroad, you must submit your transcript and the completed “Application for Recognition” from the Registrar’s Office to info∂iip.kit.edu. Recognition is generally granted with a grade. A maximum of the ECTS credits for the corresponding course here will be recognized.

The signed application is sent directly from the department to the Registrar’s Office, which determines the grade.
