The Erneurbare-Energien-Wärmegesetz EEWärmeG (Renewable-Energies-Heat-Law) demands a minimum renewable energy rate within space heating, hot water or process heat supply for newly built residential and non-residential buildings. This restriction aims at a share of 14% of renewable energies in 2020 in the heat market. Furthermore, market incentive program (MAP), which is defined in the EEWärmeG, supports this development by promoting certain technologies. This projects analyses the current share of renewable energies as well as future potentials and recommendations for the design of EEWärmeG and thus supports a pending amendment of this law.. KIT’s institute IIP supports the project with regard to industrial process heat (e.g. for drying, sterilization, distilling, etc.), which, if provided by renewables, can also be funded by MAP. With a total share of 38,8% of the final energy consumption of heat in 2008, process heat is a key factor in realizing the given climate protection goals. To estimate the future market diffusion of renewables in with respect to industrial process heat, potential analyses as well as the estimation of the net heat production costs for individual technologies like solar collectors or heat pumps are beneficial. In addition to that, IIP is conducting a target-group sensitive analysis of the incentive effects and evaluates the distribution effect of the assessed political instruments in the field of residential buildings.. An integrated household and residential building stock model developed by IIP is used for the analyses, offering the possibility to correctly assign the reduction potentials of carbon dioxide and primary energy consumption as well as investment needs and economic figures to the relevant actors.
