This project is divided into three phases. The project primarily aims to reduce impacts in terms of noise, particular matter and vibration on humans and the local environment caused by the demolition and deconstruction of buildings. While many older buildings are typically not or just partially adaptable to change in use and high energetic building standards, the demolition and deconstruction of the existing building stock is and will remain necessary in the future. Some of the stakeholders involved in the demolition process do not sufficiently consider noise, particulate matter and vibration pollution. Therefore, the main objectives of the project are to systematically measure the emissions and related impacts of noises, particulate matter and vibrations and to further develop approaches to reduce them. Different approaches for the reduction of emission and impact are developed - namely: a prototypical planning support tool, an impact measuring system and recommendations -. influenceable and non-influenceable sources of the different pollutions are analysed and respectively modelled/measured. Additionally,  higher-quality recycling of demolition materials, reutilization of building components, hazardous substances and work safety are included into the analysis. Data sources are literature and manufacturer data as well as expert knowledge according to emissions and impacts. Furthermore, primary data of emissions is gathered with the help of measurements of the relevant pollutions on deconstruction sites and reverse projection taking the initial level of pollution on site into account.
