The project "SuMo-Rhine - Promotion of Sustainable Mobility in the Upper Rhine Region" is coordinated by the Franco-German Institute for Environmental Research (DFIU) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the project consortium includes nine other funded partners from Germany and France. The European Union supports the project with a total of 1.36 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund. The aim of the project is to comprehensively analyse and evaluate the existing cross-border transport systems in the Upper Rhine region, using the example of the conurbations of Strasbourg and Lörrach. In the course of this, the project partners want to establish a novel "decision support system". The system will make measurable indicators for sustainable mobility accessible via a web application. In this way, cities, municipalities, mobility offices and mobility service providers will be able to identify potential for improving transport services with low environmental impact and increasing the market share of alternative modes of transport much more precisely than before.
