Prof. Dr. Frank Schultmann

Frank Schultmann studied Business Engineering at the Universität Karlsruhe (TH) (University of Karlsruhe). In 1998, he received a Ph.D. in Economics from the Faculty of Economics and Business Engineering of the University of Karlsruhe. From 1996 to 2004 he was head of the research group Building, Economics and Environment at the French-German Institute for Environmental Research, University of Karlsruhe. From 1998 to 2004 he also guided the research group Production and Logistics Management at the Institute for Industrial Production (IIP), University of Karlsruhe. With his Habilitation in 2003 at the University of Karlsruhe, he received the venia legendi (teaching authority) in Business Administration. In 1999, he was awarded the Klaus-Tschira-Preis in Economics (Klaus-Tschira Award) from the Klaus-Tschira Foundation and the University of Karlsruhe. In 2004, he received the Carl-Freudenberg-Preis (Carl-Freudenberg-Award) from the Carl-Freudenberg-Foundation for the best scientific work at the University of Karlsruhe. In the same year, he got an appointment to a Professorship at the University of Bremen. From May 2004 to November 2004, he was professor at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Koblenz-Landau. During this time, he was head of the research group Business Administration, Industry, Production and Logistics at the Institute for Management. In Koblenz, he taught Business Administration, Production Management, Operations Research and Logistics for the new established international and bi-lingual BSc and MSc degrees in Information Management. From December 2004 to March 2009 he was full professor and holder of the Chair of Business Administration, Construction Management and Economics at the University of Siegen. During his sabbatical in 2008-2009 he was Visiting Professor at the Entrepreneurship, Commercialisation and Innovation Centre (ECIC) at the University of Adelaide, Australia. Since April 2009 he holds the Chair of Business Administration, Production and Operations Management at the Universität Karlsruhe (TH) / Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and is Director of the Institute for Industrial Production and the French-German Institute for Environmental Research.
