Cross-border Franco-German e-mobility with economic perspective

In a 3-year cross-border fleet test with commuters of the company Michelin in the Karlsruhe plant as well as with employees of the company SIEMENS at the location Karlsruhe the proof is to be furnished that with a suitable combination of electric vehicle type and employment profile an economical vehicle operation can be achieved. The central content of the project will be to maximize the annual mileage of electric vehicles in urban areas in France and Germany through intelligent application profile optimization, taking into account the necessary charging times. The accompanying research is carried out by several institutes of FhG and KIT. In an acceptance analysis, user expectations and user experiences will be investigated and compared with each other, while the accompanying physical-technical research will examine the point-of-use energy balance during operation of the vehicles and thus provide indications for range-optimized operation. Within the scope of subcontracts, TÜV Süd will be involved in safety investigations of the vehicles and e-Motion Line GmbH (a spin-off from KIT) as fleet operator.
